Metal Detecting
Yesterday I was whining about targets that I thought should have been a silver halves and turned out to be something different. Today I dug what I thought was going to be a clad quarter and it turns out to be a Walking Liberty Silver Half Dollar. Go Figure! I told you that I was due a Silver Half!

On a good note, I only dug one piece of trash. My one and only wheat penny was a 1919 that I recovered from under a mass of Magnolia roots. I like detecting around Magnolia trees because they seem to attract good targets, but recovery is hell. Oh yeah, the unusual looking ring was a eyeball find.

The master plan today was to hunt the older areas to give my knees a rest, since I wouldn't be digging so much. Instead, I swung so much looking for targets that I put a crick in my shoulder. I think I'll give it rest from detecting tomorrow. LOL

thats a beauty shes worth a crick good job thanks for posting your finds
Thanks! My 'crick' is all better now. Tomorrow the rain starts and then we're hit with a week of cold weather before it warms up again. I have time to rest up!

Great find!! Take care of that shoulder!!
Thanks! My shoulder has been giving me problems ever since I busted my arm and dislocated my shoulder a few years. There for awhile before my right arm healed I had to swing with my left arm. After awhile it wasn't all that bad.

Congratualtions on the nice finds! :occasion14:
Thanks! I always love getting out and swinging a detector.

Congrats on the Walker,,
Beautiful coin
Thanks! I love finding them!

Ask and you shall receive! Sweet Silver:icon_thumleft:
Thanks! I should have ask for more. It's time for a Barber. I'm way past due. LOL

The Deus frequently tricks me into thinking that I am going to dig a half dollar.

Congrats on scoring the BIG silver.
Thanks! I switch around on detectors so much that I get a little confused every once in awhile.

GREAT FIND. I'm thinking of just duct taping my knee and getting out searching, You guys are killing me. :)
Thanks! Seeing other people's finds gets me fired up.

Excellent find, send me some of your luck!
Thanks! I get lucky when I get out there and give it my all. Location is a big key to finding good targets.

Awesome save, Tab!! Those Walkers are one of the most beautifully designed coins ever, and that specimen of yours is an excellent example...keep stacking that silver! Ddf

Luv the big silver Beautiful find

Great job. Your persistence paid off, yesterday you insisted there were to be a half dollar. LOL Congrats!!
Thanks! Sometimes I surprise myself.

Well done on the silver half!
Thanks! It put a big smile on my face.

Nice Half you dug there.
Thanks! They're hard to come by, so finding one is a big happy.

Another great recovery and in awesome condition too.
Thanks! Somebody had a sad day when they lost it.

What ?? A coin from east of the Mississippi that's NOT a large cent, bust, or colonial copper ? We're bored. JUST KIDDING ! Congratz on the half :occasion16: I never get tired of walkers :hello2:
Thanks! I'm getting ready to do some relic hunting of some old mid-eighteen hundred sites next month. I have 3 sites lined up for me and a fellow forum member who's flying in to hunt them with me. He's into relic hunting bigtime, so maybe I'll catch the relic bug.

Thanks! Hard work paid off.

Thanks! I can remember back when I wasn't finding and silver coins. It was back before I started metal detecting though. LOL

You lost me on that one. LOL

Nice looking coin Tabman !

Nice walking half! Nothing beats that huge silver rim in the hole.

Gotta love her when she walks like that

You could just have that leg amputated get a wooden leg ba boom no more knee issues!!!!

Nice chunk of silver.
Congrats

Your right, that baby looks store bought!

Awesome day!!!
Thanks! How someone lost something that big and shiny is beyond me. How someone didn't find it laying on the ground or a lawnmower didn't chew it up is also a mystery.

sweet walker..:icon_thumright:
Thanks! They're fun to find.

Nice looking coin Tabman !
Thanks! It seems like most Walkers look new, but most Standing Liberties look like they've been through hell and back.

Nice walking half! Nothing beats that huge silver rim in the hole.
Thanks! When I saw the rim, I was hoping for a Barber. I'm due one. LOL

Gotta love her when she walks like that
It's a well liked coin for sure.

You could just have that leg amputated get a wooden leg ba boom no more knee issues!!!!
I think I'll just pop a Advil instead. LOL

Nice chunk of silver.
Congrats
Thanks! I like how they stay all nice looking even after being buried so long.

Your right, that baby looks store bought!
On all my non-key date coins I polish them up with a micro-fiber cloth coated in Bar Keepers Friend. Just soak the cloth in a water mixture of it, let it dry and you're ready to go. It's something like a mega jeweler's polishing cloth.

she's a beauty, congrats. I never expected to find a Walker around here but on this permission, I found my 3rd the other day. I almost didn't dig it after digging 4 or 5 grommets that had the same signal. sweet silver for sure!

She's a beauty. Walking Tall baby, walking tall.
