Camped out in nice weather the past 4 days. Found airplane out in a SW Florida swamp. Appears to have been stripped of its engine, probably for someones airboat... This plane made its last landing. Can anyone tell me anything by these numbers?

thats my cousin from Pa. They just got back from Disneyworld and I took him for a nice ride in the Glades. Those are brake levers. You brake one side to turn. I could practically turn on a dime in the mud.

Yea, That would have been My Excu , Ah Problem Too :D

I guess we may never know the original owner of that plane.

Sorry to sway from the subject but here are some old hunting pics I posted a while back on another thread. We have deer here too, but not as big.

Were all the seats missing except the pilots seat?? Drug runners would strip the inside to make room for druds and to decrease weight.

Hello oldguy. I was not the first person to find this plane. It has already been stripped. The seat is gone. Not much inside. I believe it only held 2 or 3 people. The engine and prop gone. I didnt look in the brush, but the wing may also be gone. The tail is complete and flaps still work. I was just wondering how old it was and its story. Probably abandoned in the 70's and number was given to someone else.

I know what you mean by stripped, we had someone park their plane in downtown Atlanta and over night it looked like that plane of yours. lol

Not to get off subject but I bet you'd give your eye teeth to have that fulltrack today, huh? That baby's sweet! Perfect mode of transportation out there.Beats an airboat for sure. 8)

It was a lot of fun. In the late 70's the water levels were lower north of Alligator Alley. Before the Army Corps of Engineers started impounding high water levels, we would count 100 deer in one day. It was almost like the African Savanah with wet and dry seasons. The high water killed off most of the deer and the hardwood hammock islands are shrinking. Now they will try Everglades Restoration. ::)

This fulltrack vehicle was homeade with WWII military track, sprockets, tank radiator and Scat rear end. I had a 440 Dodge with 4-barrel carb. Unless grandfathered in, the new buggys cannot be larger than 6 cyl - 1 barrel carb and no taller than 6 feet from ground to top platform. I dont keep up with the new regulations. But it was a sad day when I sold. But we do what we gotta do.
