All that glitters is not plumb gold ....."gold flash" find today; also 10K earring

Windy out there today, but got in a 3 hr. hunt around noontime hrs.

Found a glittering pendant : a "gold fish " that turned out to be a "gold flash":laughing7:

But got lucky with a nice low sound that brought up a nice earring ( 2 stones missing) 10K.:icon_thumleft:

Time to move on to a different hunting ground, but will return in a couple of weeks to this one; I have a feeling that there are more treasures here, but I need a change of scenery right now8-)

Here's some pics

Thanks for looking

Lorraine

Lorraine, I wouldn't discount the earring as being 10kt. Rolled gold plate is usually designated "RGP," and it normally follows the Karat stamp. Plus, rolled gold plate is an older method of manufacture. Today, you would usually find the markings, "G.E., or H.G.E." as a designation for plated material. This is just a guess, but the earring might be real 10kt. Try an acid test, and I hope it turns out to be the real deal!

Thank you for the above information,585925...much appreciated.

On closer scrutiny, the initials on the earring read "CRP"...I misread the stamping.

I just filed down a bit of the earring and acid tested it; result : 10K

Thank you again

Lorraine
