It rang up a 9 on my Nox 800, same VDI as a bunch of shell casings I had dug in that area. For that reason I started to walk away. Then I turned around and said what the heck just dig it. Then I saw it was going to be under a root and almost walked away again. So glad I stayed with it! I have dug complete Colonial shoe buckles before but never one that rang up this low. It's a 10 out of the hole.

Wow! That is a fantastic buckle and you did a great job with the restoration; what was your method? I seldom have luck with VDIs that low and have never had a buckle ring up in that range. Congrats to you!!

That’s outstanding congratulations on your buckle recovery!!!!
Thanks for sharing ..

Thx lenmac. Yeah the buckle just had that flakey outer shell like you might see on a bronze IHP or 2 center. I barely touched it with the a wooden kabob skewer and it flaked right off, That's all I did. You can see a little rust seeping out from the iron pin but I left that area along.

Thanks! That certainly did the trick, as it is a beauty.

Wowzers! Cleaned up nicely. As buckles go that's as good as they get!
