I tried a few times before to explain what i was finding but. Noone ever sees it. I cleaned one of these about ten years ago I just found a match. You can see in the left bottom that there is a square grinded smooth and numbered. These buttons have a ton of hidden symbols and pictures in the background. Hopefully having a clean one and a dug one identical side by side will show off what I'm talking about. You guys see anything? The site I dug it on was owned by owned by James trenchand and used for a large workshop of engraving and casting. Making dies and plates . Blie pics are edit. I changed the color so hopefull it will help you see the pattern. Anyone?

A number of places. Not these particular buttons. I found a bunch of things in this exact spot that all seemed to have a little extra hidden in plain sight . Do you see it?

As far as a little extra hidden I'm not convinced that the worn pattern is anything significant.

I posted some stuff on here it's been about ten years since I posted any of the stuff with hidden imagery. I posted probably on reddit. Most likely on Facebook, reached out to a few people individually. After a few attempts with everyone telling me they saw nothing at all I stopped asking. You gotta stare at it for a minute. There's alot on it.

Pictures are not good and the blue does not help good, sharp in focus pictures in natural light would be much better.

Now if one tries to look at the image long enough, you say a shield, in the top center I can invasion the fleur-de-lis.

What makes you think this an actual button.
Is there an obvious shank or mark in the center?
What you have is possibility a type of Token or French coinage.
The name escapes me at the moment.

It's a button I thought I posted the backs in the beginning of the thread. I'll do so when I get the chance. Absolutely a button. . If you look closely you cab see how the metal looks like it changes scratch patterns. The way the scratches stay uniform with a few others and kinda layer the thing becomes obvious that it's done intentionally. This one is kinda different then the pattern I find usually because it's so light that it's doesn't really make alot of sense to spend so much time on something this difficult to see.

Instead of using an electronic microscope or similar device, and altering the color.
Try just going out in a natural lighting environment.
Take a regular in focus picture of both sides of the item, measurement, and even the weight would cut through a lot the thoughts.

Sure I do, but you stated that you were crazy, I was agreeing with you. We all have to be a little crazy to dig holes for junk that most people other than us would appreciate.

Question for my curiosity, on something like this could you use putty or something similar to smash onto it that might show the patterns more clearly? Or would that not help, or damage them?
