Exactly why I don't watch TV............Except maybe a couple Andy Griffith reruns with my kids :laughing7:

Ive always enojoyed seeing videos or articles about how the "media" controls your mind...as this is coming from a Media website

Well this is a little scary.

I always look for an excuse to post clips from one of the greatest movies of all time and this thread is perfect for that!

and I still sit here in amazement that this movie was made in 1976! :o

I haven't watched broadcast TV nor listened to mainstream news in over 3 years and I'm loving it. I also have an ad-block extension on my browser that keeps my internet free of brainwashing ad propaganda. The only exception I make however is to Treasurenet since I like supporting this website and so I don't mind allowing the metal detector ads through. :)

UnderMiner, the AdBlock Plus is great, isn't it? I've been using it for a long time now and have saved a lot of time and frustration.

I moved from NYC to Port Allegheny, Pennsylvania, July, 2017. I have a TV but I haven't hooked up cable yet. I'm okay with not watching TV. Maybe I'll get something hooked up for the Winter
I know that it is a distraction and gets in the way of getting things done but I deserve a little entertainment once in awhile.

1964. "The medium is the message" is a phrase coined by Marshall McLuhan meaning that the form of a medium embeds itself in any message it would transmit or convey, creating a symbiotic relationship by which the medium influences how the message is perceived.
Wiki

In a printing mistake the title word "message " was printed as "massage" McLuhan was said to have preferred this word to "message."
I can understand the double meaning.
Who ever controls the media, controls the people. One way is to discredit what's being reported is to cast doubt. Like calling negative reports as "Fake news".
