The weather was unusually mild here this morning, so I decided at the last minute to have a little trot round a local park where at least 3 times a year, funfairs are held there.

I was hoping for a good haul of coins, but my optimism was dashed a little when a dog-walker told me that someone was detecting on there last weekend.

Anyhow, I stayed for an hour or so, if only to get a little more accustomed to the Ace 250 I bought a couple of weeks back.

Not a great deal to show for my efforts today, but I intend to make a repeat visit there when I get more time.

;) ;) ;) Happy New Year to All on TNet! ;) ;) ;)

Getting to know your machine is always a plus.

I'm curious about the "fish" looking item? Is it a fish?

Greetings from sunny California, HH Joe

It seems to be some sort of magnetic fish... probably from a kids' board game, methinks!

Well, better that not getting out at all, here in Southern Germany, we´ve had minus 14 every night with minus 7 every day, but it warmed upto minus 4 today, so warm enough for snow, which is what we got straight away (Temp. in Celcius)
Grounds really hard, you break axes, pick axes, and shovels trying to get at anything, and anything you do manage (4 inches in 30 minutes of digging), is usually destroyed from hitting or prising it out of the ground.

... And now I feel guilty for complaining about a bit of a stiff breeze! :)

oh dont worry about that.... we all have high expectations when we go out...sometimes I think, todays gonna be the big one....naw.....so I just decided...go out, get dirty and have fun... if I find something, thats great, if I don't thats fine too, least I got out....so dont worry. My big time is... just being able to get out... so dont feel guilty at all...lol ok... alls good in hunting land...

As you probably noticed my last couple of posts have been from the local park. Interestingly no-one bothers with it here. So plenty of coins & ring pulls.

I know what you mean about the weather. Last two times I stripped down to a T-shirt??

I enjoy all the posts here but especially when a fellow Brit starts a thread I wish you the very best luck for 2008 S.I.R
