Nothing but balls there. We think it was just a dump site-No bottom or top plates, rings, or canister tubes. HH, Q.

I actually dug 24 grape balls but had already given 2 balls away to friends when I made the pic. These balls were obviously discarded during or after the war but had been assembled into a stand of grape because some balls had a flat on them. Thanks, Q.

Strange spot there Quindy. Nothing else CW related there? I have always heard that iron balls with flat spots are mill balls. I can't see an iron ball developing a flat spot from being pressed into a stand of grape. That would definitely happen with lead balls, but not iron.

No other CW there Steve but there a 3 U.S. camps in the immediate area. The 24# balls are show more flat spots than the others. I had a local CW dealer verify they are CW. Hope you are well, Q.
