My Ace 250 arrived late last week, and I finally found the time to actually read the owner's manual and take it for a spin. I started with a field behind my house and got a lot of hits. Unfortunately, the ground was so dry and compacted that I wasn't able to actually dig anything up. Invested in some decent digging tools (thanks to whoever it was who suggested buying the digger from Trans-Mississippi Electronics-it's awesome)!! The next day (Saturday), I went to a garage sale and noticed that the house was quite old looking. I got the go ahead from the owner and started searching. Again, lots of hits, but I felt a little self-conscious digging with the owner standing over me. I did find one really old nail though. On Sunday, my husband decided that I must be doing something all wrong and got in on the act. Now, he's addicted and I got to practice my extricating and digging skills. We found some old foundations in the woods and around them found some old lead pipes and what looks like pieces of a brass decorative basket and a very corroded hatchet head. Yesterday, I still wasn't able to actually touch the detector, and was on digging duty once again. We found the site of an abandoned farm that was taken over by the park district. Lots of trash on the surface. Dug a few cans. Even though we haven't found anything "good" yet, we are enjoying the thrill of what could be beneath our feet and practicing with the new toy. Maybe tonight, I'll be able to get out on my own before the hubby comes home :D I hope he won't be jealous.

If it's YOUR Ace 250, tell him HANDS OFF. Let him buy his own. Have fun.

After doing this for a little over 10 years... i still think the the excitement you get when you hear that beep is a rush. There was a thread a while back about why we do this... for the hunt, or the find.

I'm still in it for the hunt... but damn do i love the good finds

steve

Goodness, you have some nice sites to hunt! The finds are there, just have to be patient and learn the detector, some good finds sound bad and many bad finds sound good. HH, Mike

Keep diggin moon! It gets better and easier every time you go. Promise.

Keep safe...

You’re Welcome artemis moon... BTW, that digger makes a great gardening tool as well...

Keep playing with it, learn it, and the finds will come. Sounds like you have some great spots to hunt. That is...if you ever get to use YOUR machine.

I'd say its his turn to do the digging and if he argues, politely tell him to buy his own detector, end of discussion!!
