Sluices: Bazooka 30" Prospector, Bazooka Super Mini and a folding A52 clone. Homemade 12" x 24" Miller table.
Primary Interest:
Prospecting
So I've been thinking (I know that could be a problem in it's self) I have been trying to make a miller table to help with the recovery process, I have this 30" BGT Prospector so could I use the slick plate as a "miller table" at home if I set it up with a shallow angle and slow water flow over a couple of tubs and use a recirc pump. I figure the trap would catch the black sands to reprocess until I'm sure I've got all the gold out of it. What do you guy's think.

Great freakin' idea!
Sorry for the mock expletive but I just finished watching Gold Rush ;-)

Know what you "Freakin" mean Kevin. How come they never say what those little diamonds fetch for prices like they do with the gold clean outs. The best I can see is about 300/carrot, those itty bitty things they find most be, what, 1/8- 1/4.

I'll have my diy table back in operation tomorrow (wanting on silicone to dry) as I redid the paint job to try something different. Seams like the surface is a little rougher now. If that doesn't workout, I have some more pcv tubing to make the flow head to go onto the BGT so we'll see.

Yup, I figure about $100 per diamond so they aren't even paying for their fuel bill...what a joke!

Miller table BGT- "This could be a game changer!" "Let's bring it in guys, we can do this!" Bumping hard hats on three, ready?
Sorry guys I couldn't resist. Seriously, I think it's a cool idea. As far as roughness goes, cut a piece to fit on top of the slick plate and put it smooth side up.

Miller tables work best with a smooth surface. In fact the smoother the better, a bumpy surface will allow water to get under the flour gold and cause it to go surfing. No problem with the larger gold though unless the flow is too fast.

GG~

I agree with goodguy on This. Its sounds lkke a good idea though.

Ok so here is the clean out from my black sands on my DIY Miller table (ran them thru 3 times and saved them to cook out later).

Here is a pic of the table, I used a 12"x24" ceramic tile that a bead blasted the top glaze off and painted with some left over bedliner (brushed on), the box is made from PCV 1"x3" edging. I still have to work on the flow rate and/or table level. I also need to make a stand for it so I can stand up while working it as it was hell on my back.

OK so here is an update on my Miller table. Worked on making some legs for it today as I didn't like being bent over the way I had it before (just siting on top of the bins). I haven't went out lately to bring any new cons home so I opened a bag of paver sand and run a few small shovel fulls thru and caught a couple of fly boops. Still have to work on flow and angle settings but still all in all I'm getting happier with it.
