The past 3 days have been pretty busy for me as for detecting. Friday evening, I hunted the field where I recently found a Confederate block "R" button. I didn't find much but a hunting buddy showed up an hour before dark and he skunked me by finding a NC Sunburst button. The following morning I joined another friend in that field and we hunted about 4 hours. My buddy found one 3-ringer , I found three 3-ringers and a tiny piece of gold with script letters "PHH" engraved in it. My buddy headed home and I decided to hit my favorite artillery site. I found half a dozen shell frags and 45 minutes into the hunt I got a big, trashy sounding signal. It sounded rather shallow so I was expecting a plow point or something. I plunged my shovel into the soft sandy soil and flipped the object up to the surface. Holy Moly!...another shell!...I couldn't believe it . This one is identical to the last one i dug about a month ago...minus the sabbot. This makes shell #6 since mid-March of last yr.
I hunted another hour or so and found a few more frags.
The following day I returned in hopes of finding another shell. I found several more shell fragments , 3 fired 3-ringers 1 grape shot ball and 2 iron case shot balls.
I hit the confederate button field once more and found 1 melted 3-ringer and the back of a 2-piece button.
Thanksfor looking and HH y'all
