All Treasure Hunting
I was hunting an empty lot in an older part of town with my buddy. We weren't finding much in the way of coins. I got a 1940 wheat and a few modern coins along with a few older relics until about a half hour in. Got another zinc cent sound (62 on my Equinox 900) dug down and found this! My first U.S. gold coin, and what a coin! An 1899S $10 gold piece. The rest of the stuff was rather anti-climatic at that point. One other good find in my book was the old San Diego luggage tag. Still need to research that item. Maybe one of you knows what the L.H. & T. Co. means? Definitely one of my best finds! :hello2:

Identifying the Initials (L. H. & T. Co.)
In turn-of-the-century San Diego history, these types of tokens were used by local transfer lines, stagecoach operations, livery stables, or historic hotels. The abbreviation likely stands for a local enterprise such as the Lakeside Hotel & Transfer Company, a Livery, Hack, & Transfer Company, or a similar local transit hub that operated between the late 1880s and the World War I era.

Congratulations on finding your first U.S. gold coin. You deserve it. I hope someday before I retire from metal detecting I'll be able to find my first gold anything.
