I was able to line up five old houses in town and got skunked at the first one, but at the second I found an Eisenhower dollar, its
not silver, but I think its pretty cool. 20180908_195035.webp20180908_195050.webp

Thought they were silver?

Silver “Ikes” were minted in San Francisco, they would therefore have an ‘S’ mintmark. I believe that they were 40% silver. This is a great find however. No detectorist would miss a coin as big as this, I would continue to work this site as clearly it has never been worked.

Nice Ike! :icon_thumleft: You never see them anymore!

Ill take one anytime he wants to come up for air.:laughing7: Congrats

A dollla is a dolla thats a nice one havet seen one of them in a long time

That's a nice find. I just found one myself about 3 weeks ago. Sure makes the detector sing out loud !

Congratualtions on the dollar coin find! :occasion14:

Great find!

Do they still make them? I know they used to make them expressly for the casino slot machines, but they may have gone to tokens now.

Dollar coins,, even if they are not silver, are always fun to find. Congrats on your Ike.

Nice dollar coin save. Congrats

Great find - Congratulations!!!:hello2:

When I dig larger denomination coins I think...”One silver dollar=1 hole compared to 1.00 in pennies=100 holes!” (and the newer pennies just corrode so they don’t count for much[emoji6]....That’s better in the back and knees and saves time LOL.

Last year for the big dollars found by you is a nice find.
