I own one and I'd like to answer but I'm a little confused, you got 2 hoses when you got it right? because mine came with one small for no highbanker and one longer one for with the HB it's fine as far as length for me as it's just recirculating the water. If your talking about using water from a river or ocean and not recirc then you prob could adjust it to work with a diff pump but it would take some testing I would think and something I'd eventually like to try.
