Hey guys,
Got out with OldDude today to do some door knocking, first place he spotted we got permission right away, the house had the look, just not the goods! I did however, manage a 44 merc there, no video though, I didn't want the owner hearing me and I didn't want to give it back lol:laughing7:, merc front.webpmerc back.webp also a silver plated spoon. Not much else to be found there besides heat, humidity, and BUGS!, so we bailed out of there and traveled the country side looking for that next gem, Knocked on a few killer homes only to find out no one was home at a few and then I had 2 renters say they couldn't grant us permission.
Running out of options, OldDude brought us to a home of a coworker of his and we hit that yard pretty good, He managed some goods, but ill let him tell yas, and I got a 46roosieroosie dirt.webproosie.webp and a 925 floral pin which I gave back to the owner, the guy wanted to buy it off me cause it was his mother in laws, I gladly said no and gave it back to him , I said its just gonna sit in my collection, so here you keep it. A little later he came back out insisting I took it back, but I wouldn't take it, I told him its no big deal, give it to your mother in law. pin front.webppin pack.webp
Strange thing about today was we dug silvers, but not a single wheat:icon_scratch:, I don't think that's ever happened to me before, also we both got a little clad, and I got this small toy gun, Im pretty sure I lost 129 lbs today!:sunny: the merc and roosie make silvers 36 and 37, and I suppose the pin counts as 38 on the year even though I gave it back:icon_thumleft: thanks for looking and HH!!SAM_1251.webp

Yeah guys the heat , humidity , bugs are a pain .
I admire anyone who works / hunts in these environments .

I was much better at it a few years ago but now at 43 the only thing that can keep me going in this heat is Bug Spray
at the least a half gallon of water or a bunch of Coins or Relics , the latter always seems to make one forget about the heat as much.

Nice finds! You guys were out there sweat'n find'n oldies!

OD I think Cjon would have done the right thing...for no other reason than it's easier than digging a six foot hole and dragging you in! :laughing7:

I think that was our problem yesterday Davers.....gnats were horrible at the first place....they swarmed you and the owner seemed a bit lonely. He kept going from Cjon to myself and back.
Next place, the soil was VERY sandy and the few good targets we got were very deep. I know the Roosevelt I got was at least 8 inches and for some reason, I kept digging huge shotgun stamps. These were the tallest stamps I have ever seen and were coming up as copper cents. I couldn't pass up possible wheats or maybe even an IH. In the heat, they just weren't very appealing, lol.

You guys had a good hunt again glad for ya !
I hunted a little today it got to hot so i took a nap in the woods HH
Gary

Holy cow Gary.... I'm glad your woods is this friendly this time of year. I envy you buddy. Here in Middle Tennessee I damn near strip naked on the deck and spray and then I have to spray each layer of clothes going back on. Like... bare feet, then socks and then shoes. And then over-spray the clothes. And even then if I dared to sit down for awhile let alone fall asleep I'd probably wake up and look like one huge bug bite. I've been attacked badly so many times I'm probably just a chicken-s**t. But a good case of chiggers will put the fear of God into you.

Oh man. I grew up on the border of middle Tn in south central Ky and we used to brave the chiggers and copperheads to go pick wild blackberries for one of Mom's mouth watering cobblers!

Well partner you ain't missing nothing... we still have chiggers, lots of copperheads and blackberries. But I bet you do miss your "Mom's mouth watering cobblers".

Never really liked Blackberries or the Sticker Bushes they grow on, they make me itch almost as much as the Skeeters Do.

But that Cobbler Does sound GOOD.

Oh and Chiggers they love me too. Heck I even have some (small) Scars on my Ankles & Wrists from scratching So much, but it felt sooo Good...

Snakes Must avoid me , I can Honestly say I have never seen a Rattle Snake in the Wild & no Copperheads or Cottonmouths that were over 6 inches either, Kinda Strange cause I've heard of neighbors & other local Relic Hunters Saying they have had to Kill them. 'Many Times'

Had poison Ivy Real Bad as a kid , but it has never really bothered me since. (lucky there)

In Ground Yellow Jackets used to get me several time a year as I swept their Nests.
but ,Strangely as I have Commented in the past , I have seen only 1 active nest in the last 3 years all the others have been dug out by something.:icon_scratch:

Sorry for my rant..but kinda bored today , I would like to go MDing, but then again I don't.
Mainly for the reasons yall been talking about.
Oh Well
Everyone have a Happy July 4th Weekend.
Davers:thumbsup:

Actually, I think Chris and I came close to dying from the heat, lol. He even told me " If you fall out, I am not doing CPR"!
Actually I said "I know CPR but I'm not feeling the whole mouth to mouth thing"
