Hi guys
I was just passing by the area where I've found a lot of Byzantine stuff. I noticed someone was building a new road there. So I decided to stop and talk with the owner. It was very muddy on the surroundings so I could check only the soil on both sides of the road. The soil on both sides of the new road was very rich with pottery pieces.
A lot of small and big nails came out.
While the surface of the new road was 50 cm deep and untouched soil I was not expecting to find anything so I was looking only the sides of it. But the unexpected happened. Right on that clean surface I dug this beautiful ring. I'm sure it felt from the side of the road because of the heavy rains.
Silver and Red Ambra. That was a great find for a quick hunt.

Agree, awesome find and the gem still in is very very rare. :icon_thumright:

That's a really cool design. Very nice find!

Are you sure its not Carnelian?

Ups, I thought I corrected the title. First I thought it was a Rubin but than I thought probably it was an Ambra Stone. So I corrected the title but it seems like something didn't work. Sorry for that.

I did have enough time to spend searching the surroundings for other targets but I this ring was enough to get beck home singing :tongue3:

Great job on the ring find! :occasion14:

That's a beautiful ring! Congratulations!

Yep, another BANNER!

As usual Vince, you have gone and found an awesome relic from the past. That is a really sweet ring.

Thanks for sharing, and good luck to you sir!

Thanks Tom. It was close to a big iron nail but still the x35/13" coil gave a very clear sound. Best luck to you too. :icon_thumleft:

Wow! How old is that? I am thinking banner all day!

I'm not sure if someone can date it but based on the other finds on that area I can say it is at least from the 9th - 10th AD. All i know is that after the 10th century that area lost its importance and was almost abandoned.
Thanks for the vote buddy :icon_thumright:

I've had time to think this over.

As it's solid SILVER & has the stone complete, I've put my BANNER vote in.

Thanks Cru. You don't give your vote away very easily, that's why I appreciate it.
