Well we did it again and what a rush again. It will never get old. Don and I wanted to continue to dig the "Iffy" trash areas around the privies that yielded the broken Eagle Flasks. Probed an area between two pits and figured it was a trash pit no more that 4 feet deep. Which was good because of the collapse issues we were having in the other pits. Don started out with some medicines and some utilty bottles that were not embossed but they were old(1880's). He continued on and found pieces of a Union Clasped Hands Flask and some peices of a Pikes Peak 1/2 pint flask :( Just pieces and parts again just like the other pits.

Don was about 3 feet down in the relatively small pit and found the bowl of a Chamber Pot which tells us this was actually a privy and not a trash pit. It was full of seeds as well, another indicator of a privy. Then he reached down and pulled out the Double Eagle Flask. This one is a 1/2 pint clear/aqua color and in great shape. Crudely made collar as well. These kinds of finds will never get old. After that find the pit kinda fizzled out, but at this point we didn't care. We had another Eagle Flask in hand. :o

The privy had shards of Barrel Bitters from Cincinnati as well as Udolpho Wolfs Aromatic Schnapps and a really crude and more rare Mason Jar. It appears as the people who lived here back in the day spared no expense on top shelf drinks and bitters. We shall go back and investigate every little trash area thats for sure. Another great hunt ended with a very nice keeper. Can't wait for my days off again to get back and try for more! Be safe as always, jgas

Great find!

Wouldn't you like to go back and share that bottle with the guy that drank those? :occasion14:

Great finds as usual! Can you put up a picture of the Mason jar? Also, I can't recall ever seeing tomato seeds; what I find is usually smaller, more granular. Tomato seeds would make sense though. I have found grape and (probably) blackberry seeds. People wouldn't believe what's down there!
