Wondering if anyone can help me with this brass magnifier. It had no markings and the handle is made of an odd wood or shell. Came from an antique shop in Florida. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Not one mark on the thing. I took it apart and the handle seems to be individual pieces and the wood or shell is the same all through the drilled holes. A single rod runs through it and is threaded on the ends.

The closest thing I can think of would be something in the castor bean family. Hopefully not! In the early 60s everyone was wearing castor bean "hippie" necklaces until people started getting sick from ricin poisoning. You mentioned Florida, maybe nuts from the Bahamas etc etc.

Anyone know any sites that deal with nuts & beans might be able to match them to a picture? Ok, with that question, let the ribbing & jokes commence!!
