Antique silver hatpin and old pewter button. Me thinks.

Both of these were found at a site that's been in use since the 1600's. The pin looking thing did have a pin on the back but it broke off. You can't tell from the pictures but I believe there's silver in it. The second button thing was found about 7 inches down. I know it looks kind of like there's an image on it, but there isn't. Anyone know what these might be?
