Iam thinking you are asking about the object which appears to be imbedded in the matrix, is that correct?

I have no idea right off. Possibly a broken antique table leg with a coaster embeded. ??

Tell us about the context in which this was found please. Was this a field find, creek, did you find this in a rummage sale, what? Give us details.

See the image and answer the question the arrow points to please.

Looks to be a creek rock. Many years ago that pebble could of wedged into the sediment. The sediment then hardened and turned to stone. The 2 fused together and created what you have found.
Now let’s see those artifacts you mentioned.
Interesting rock by the way.

My mind keeps going to a Gastropod fossil, I’m imagining a section of a snail with one those pointy cone shaped shells. The thing that throws me is how polished it looks, fairly certain it’s not Native American though.

Field find pretty close to a river. I have a few arrow heads and a rock marble from the same spot. And the material is hard. And the object or polished stone is firm inside of there. I will take some better pictures when I get home later today

After some serious internet research this is the only thing I could find simular and it was used when firing clay.

No doubt on those killer points. You can get more exposure if you repost them in another post. Some really good looking finds. I also see you enjoy the creeks like I do. We just had a super flood and I’m already thinking of getting my feet wet just as soon as the water drops.
