Any gold in my area?

Hey everyone I live in Thurmont MD up in the catoctin mountains I can't seem to find any info so Ill ask here do you think there would be any gold in the waters here? should I bother trying?

All I could find was one this saying "An old homestead can be seen above the falls. There is an abandoned gold or possibly copper mine located in the park"

If I were you I would definately do some prospecting around where you live. I live near Philadelphia, and had a truck route with stops in Maryland. Getting to see the different areas, I did some research and found out there were definately a few mines in your state. Cecil County, Baltimore County, Fredrick area I saw stuff of mentioning gold in the areas. I think I may have also read that unfortunately alot of the land is now privately owned though. Also Virginia is supposedly even more known for gold than MD. At least this is all from stuff I have read on the internet. Have fun, and good luck to you
