Any idea of this silver ring's age?

Found this a while ago. In fact I don't even remember where. It tests silver but there are no markings inside the band. Any indication on how old it could be? Looks pretty crudely made.

Nice find. It's got a kinda Celtic look to it.

I don't think you'll be able to pinpoint a specific time period of when things like this were made. It looks pretty clean, and I think it might be recent. Perhaps a jewelry class project from a high school? This one looks like a lost wax casting. Casting students wouldn't have a way to mark the silver content.

Also, factories that routinely manufacture rings sometimes let one slip through unmarked.

I think you are right, when i was in college, i had a freind that cast his own silver ring....im pretty sure he used coins too...but it was very crude like this...Still a Great Ring, but it was unmarked and you could see the imperpections from the cast

I took an 'adult ed' casting class some years ago. It was great fun! This ring looks pretty crude, and that's a giveaway, but there was one girl on our class who did impeccably magnificent work. She took the same class over and over for 20 years! Her stuff always looked very professional. I think she even got patents on some of her designs.

The other nice thing about taking the jewelry class is I was able to take some of my broken/ damaged detecting finds and repair them.

That is a really cool find :icon_thumleft: My first thought when I saw it is that it is a coin ring made from a silver India Rupee. But with no detail on the inside that might not work. Here are the types of coins I was thinking of though. What is the diameter of the ring?

The COININDIA Coin Galleries: British India, Bengal Presidency

size is about 10 3/4 U.S. and about 7/16" wide. Weight is 11.5 grams.

Thanks everyone for your input! Will assume it's a class project ring as that sounds like the best theory!
