big cy is correct -- until we know for sure the markings / maker of the tube theres no real way to tell if CW or not * while there was CW era lip stick tubes no doubt --is this tube one of them ? or is it later era "co mingled" debris ? just found upon the same site---say a 1920 / 1930 girl in the woods on a date with her "boyfreind" lost it

if one finds a set of car keys on a CW era battle site , can the finder say they had cars in the CW? I think not.

however a item like this can possibly be a CW item if the "correct" markings are there to time date it to the CW era and it was found at a CW era camp site.---at least in my veiw.

you know we can eliminate about 80% of the possibilities by saying prior to 1915 all lipstick was in paper,i can't find a metallic tube for this stuff prior to that,if it's CW it could be some other type of container ,1923 is the closest date to CW for metallic tubes,i agree he needs to post a pic.of the bottom to identify the item in question ! actual lipstick goes back as far as the 16th century !!

revlon did'nt have lipstick until 1942 ~~
the other has been around since 1863,don't know when there lipstick came around !!
We have no idea if these lipsticks are Revlon or CW era because the poster hasnt yet told us about any markings or posted a bottom pic. I researched the lipsticks (Revlon and Evening In Paris) posted by timekiller and there is no doubt they are 20th century. Im just clarifying that we cannot say these are CW era just because mini balls and other CW items were found in the area..

Do you understand what Im saying pamlicopanther?

Yes I do, but as I posted earlier - There is nothing on the ends of the items, therefore posting a picture will not give any answers.

I also understand they may or may not be CW era and because other CW items came from the area does not mean they are CW era. No biggie - I am just glad to know what they are, whatever era they may be from.

Thanks for everyone's help.

OK sorry pamlico. :icon_thumright: The reason nobody noticed your reply was because you didnt post properly. I had to search back and I found your reply #14 hidden in with my quote. Its a common error. You need to post after the [/quote].

Ok then the only other thing I can suggest is to try and find a brass lipstick from the CW era. Thanks.
