Any idea what this may be? Looks like a funnel with an extra spout. Made out of crockery. Found in South
Louisiana on a 1800's farm site. No markings to be seen.

Hmm, don't know, but maybe the side "spout" was for a handle? rather than a secondary spout? Or perhaps just a drain incase you poured too much into the funnel, so it could be drained off in a cleaner manner?

Something like this?

I've been all over the www and yet to find this pic. Were there anymore in that style? Trying to help Wayne (museum owner) figure what it could be.

RR, from looking at the photos, I think it is a salt glazed stoneware funnel and as already mentioned, the side hole is for a handle. As far as age is concerned, it is either a 125+ old piece or either a modern 'mammy made' (well made) reproduction. Most antique glazed stoneware has crazing, which is a fine network of surface hairline cracks and fractures. They are 'surface' fractures. I didn't see any on this piece, which makes me wonder. Of course, it could have been in a protected place of storage that help prevent crazing from happening, BUT it is very rare for antique glazed stoneware not to at least have some crazing. Ask Wayne to check it for crazing; perhaps it is crazed and doesn't show on the pics. Neat find :) Breezie

I just searched for "antique wood handled funnel". Yes, there were several pics.
I didn't save any of the sites, tho.
