I can find less than that in 4 hours and still have had an awesome day. No.....you are not alone my friend. My mind stays in day dream mode when I'm not actually swinging and digging. I can't even drive safely for looking at old yards and such going down the road..........

OMG me too! I was daydreaming yesterday while driving on a road that has an old Indian mound on it and is the site of an old school and found myself wondering what might be along the little creek bed there. Been either raining or too cold to go here lately.

It is a great past time.

Great finds!!...Trust me man...I have REAL Dreams about it too...lol....so much taht when I wake up. Im checking my back pockets..lol

We are a group of obsessed people who are addicted to treasure hunting!
There! I said it!
We also like sunshine!:laughing7:

My new yards covered in snow and ice except a 3'x3' area in the back. Yep..I just searched it lol. Got some can slaw and 2 square nails. Not a huge yard but looking forward to a good hunt. House was built in 1900. Goodies are there and taunting me!

Add me to the list, and I'm happy to be here! Detected till I couldn't feel my fingers; Barely able to walk back to the truck and then wondered if I would be able to drive home! Lol! Came home with half a corroded zinc and pull tabs! And we won't mention the encounter with the guy with a double barrel shot gun in the public park, shhhh, family still don't know about that one! Ya I'm addicted ! And happily so! Hehe! Having fun!

All I am going to say is , I was out in 18 inches of new snow the other day looking for a place to swing , found a grassy spot where the wind had blown it clean , found a clad quarter, and was thrilled , i know i have a problem. its called winter!

I'm addicted to. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I don't care. I can't sleep hardly if I know I'm going dirt fishing the next day. I may never get rich, because I won't sell my finds, it's not about getting rich, just the anticipation of what might come out of the ground.

I think it's more of a sickness :laughing7: A very good sickness :headbang:

Yes I'm an addict!! I think about digging dream about digging and wear all my coworkers out talking about it. Lol

I admit that I have known for a long time, that I have an addictive personality. (A mild OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, if you will) Addiction comes easy for me. I can easily become addicted to a mundane repetitive task, as well as, a complex task. (i.e. High speed nose picking, Underwater basket Weaving) The big difference is, this addition is Interesting, challenging and productive. Nothing thrills me more than finding something I can't identify, something I've never found before, something I have three of already, something valuable, something worthless. And when I can't hunt, I can spend endless hours sorting, rearranging, cleaning or reading about or posting about I have or have not found.

It's an Endless Cycle of more of the same only different. And I thank God that we have TNET here to share our love for our addiction.

Enough of my ranting. All you in Frozen state, carry on. Those in thawed regions, GET OUT AND HUNT. Lets make this addition as much fun as we can.

I'm only 3 years into this hobby and my addiction has eased a little bit. Where I used to get excited about anything "old" and would go digging almost every day to early 1900's - late 1800's sites I find myself not getting motivated to go unless I have a true colonial site or CW site to detect. There are not that many colonial sites in my area and most of them have been pounded over the years. Now when I come home with a thimble or a flat button I start to feel like I wasted the day. Then there are days like recently where I dug a couple 1600's hammered coins. That's what keep me digging.

I was driving on the highway for 3 hours today craning my neck to look at every old farmhouse along the road. It's an addiction, I suppose if I swerve off the road it will officially be an unhealthy one. I got out for a few hours on Monday and got my "fix".

thanks for sharing, we have a nice way of closing our meetings...

Yeah, I'm addicted,BUT DEF not going to rehab!

I don't have to dream about it anymore since I'm retired now and can hunt every day if I want to. But in between hunts my mind does drift off every now and then. Well, maybe a little more often than that ..... haha.

I played golf as a child. My Father and I traveled to Oklahoma and Texas every Summer to see Grandparents , Aunts and Uncles and cousins and on our trips my Dad taught me how to " put myself to sleep " every night. I would close my eyes and play a round of golf at our local golf course. I would fall asleep playing golf. All of my relatives have passed on now. I'm approaching my 60's. That golf course my Dad and I used to play are gone now. But I still can play all nine holes of that little local golf course as I put myself to sleep. I do the same thing with civil war relic hunting and oh boy is it fun ! No sleeping pills necessary ! Put your gear on , tune your detector , start swinging that machine and army shovel and pop those bullets and buttons out of the ground !
