I think metal detecting is better than going to a psychiatrist. go out and dig holes in the ground get dirty find something jump up and down. people ask me what i'm looking for? I say my sanity then roll my eyes back in my head. they then run to their car. sometimes I even turn the detector on!

Wanna hear a four letter word. Snow. Its supposed to do it again tonight. What's worse is that it is not even good for playing in because it is a hard crust of ice. My grandson TH'er hates this weather too. He has a find that I want to go check out.
Pointman was talking about cheap gas prices. I remember when there was a gas war and it went down to a dime a gallon. I too wish they were low again. I have got to put gas in my pickup and go places in Flippin.
As for being an addict : WHAT ARE YOU WALKING ON...ARKANSASLYNX

Im a mailman in PA. But I walk around my mail route and other routes on occasion and just dream of digging up these yards and fields. Everyday. Every hour it's on my mind

If I were a mailman I would probably get fired, because it would be too easy for me to ask people to hunt their yards and I wouldn't finish my routes from talking too much.

It's tough. I try to build a good relationship with my customers on my route before I ask. It still seems awkward but I'm starting to ask more. If they have a nice, groomed yard I don't even ask. When I do find what I hope is a good location I just kindly ask how old their house is and tell them I MD. Some, but not many, offer. It is a nice perk of the job cause a lot of the older generations know a lot more history about the county then me. I've gotten many tips just bs ing with them. But this being one of my favorite hobbies, it's a added plus that I have the opportunity to meet and talk to folks day to day to ask instead of just going door to door.

Nice silver mercury. I'm addicted to Metal Detecting too. Unfortunately I got a case of cabin fever here in New England due to winter weather. It feels like forever but spring is coming. ^_^
