Found a loop of iron about 6 to 8 inches down wouldnt come out then realized it was attached to something...dug around a little more and it appeared to be a concrete block. Needless to say I couldnt get it out without digging a huge hole in my front yard! Wish I woulda took pics.
The loop was rebar-like but thinner about 3/8 diameter...the block was at least a foot wide by 2 feet long not sure how deep.
Anyways just wondering if anyone has found something like this before and if there is any idea of what it would be used for. Thanks

Is there space there for it to be an anchor for a portable awning or carport? Or if the concrete piece is a circle a few feet across the previous poster may be on the right track and it could be the lid for an old septic tank. If so... Dont fall in

Since the ring/eye was that far down I would go with the septic tank/cesspool theory. The ring would be for lifting the lid ?

Interesting! Pretty glad I didnt open it lol! I have city water but I am in the country and it is possible that the house had septic at some point.
