Hey all, found this today detecting. Looks like it says “LIPP” on it but could have had other letters that broke off. Almost looks like it says something on bottom but havnt got to clean it up yet. Any help would be appreciated! 9A623676-CBAB-4C7D-B3CA-348B4014067C.jpeg

Hey man thanks. It’s kind of heavy and has edges on it so not sure. Plus says LIPP. I’m gonna research that though! Thanks again for your reply!

AARC, is that "Refrigerator" or an "Icebox" :)

My grandfather opened a small business to sell refrigerators back in the 1920's in rural Mississippi.
Unfortunately, not enough people had electricity by then to make the venture a success.
He was just ahead of his time...

He did manage to sell quite a few as iceboxes, however, I guess because they were better insulated. ?

Anyway, I don't think the Lippman badge on AARC's photo matches the object because the holes are in the wrong place.
That said, it may very well be an appliance badge, or similar.

It looks like it may have had some smaller text below on a separate line, but it's too crusted to tell.
How thick is the item?
I wouldn't expect a license plate frame to be very stiff with excess material.
A lot of older (40's, 50's, etc..) industrial devices and products used to have very robust Manufacture nameplates, similar to AARC's image he posted.

I would research ice boxes from the 1800's. Maybe a commercial one or one inside a restaurant?

Is it cast iron? I found a piece to an old wood stove. 0D0A12A5-A6D0-4E18-B011-10E54DBEF9AA.png
