Anyone live in Savannah? Taking vacation there and have a couple questions

May be taking a few days off and going up to Savannah. Plan on spending a day detecting while I'm there and was wondering if Public Parks were off limits? Are there laws about digging in the parks? Are there any beaches you can search? Thanks

The river has all been developed, all are cement. A free boat can take you to the other side, but I dont know laws on that side. They put up a large fence to protect a civil war monument in a former slave holders 10 acres in the middle of town park. If you are not cautious you could get into trouble with those who would want to topple the statue. I am VERY serious.
