anyone use this sandscoop ?
just got one from ebay for 30$

is it junk or will it last me a summer or so .
i dont care if it lasts a lifetime. just needed it till i get something better.

It'll last for awhile at least. It is best to have one of the screened sifter types as sand flows thru better. Reilly's Treasure Gold has good ones.

I was wondering about the mesh ones (i currently use a plastic home made one) but i'm in pretty firm beaches over here on the west coast of FL and I was under the impression that type (with longer handle) would be nice cause I could push it down with my foot. I assumed I wouldn't be able to do that with a mesh one. What are your thoughts? Thank You

I use it for dry sand and sometimes in the wet too. It works good and has lasted well for me, I"ve had it a few years.

I have used that same scoop and it does what it is made to do... And it will last for a good many years....

Just clean and dry it after use for better longevity Salt will eventually eat it up otherwise

by the way. my new at pro is awesome. i am still learning it. I have found a bunch of clad. a few really cool old bottle caps . like a clorox bottle cap in mint condition that is labeled $.21 cents. not worth anything . but im having fun.

The handel attachment is hard to tell from the picture. I hope it is attached at front and back.
Here's what I look for: A handle that is longer than yours and sturdy enough to pry back when full, a SS material "basket" with holes just small enough to retain a dime. I think mine started life as a Jet Scoop hand scoop. I added an aluminum electrical conduit tube handle with a slightly back curve. I reinforced the "basket" with extra aluminum rivets. I bolted the habdle on with SS bolts. It is about 8 years old now.

save your money and buy a better sand scoop. i used this one time. first time i pushed it into wet sand i had to reshape the entire bucket . It collapsed on itself. its made of cheap flimsy metal. i think i would have been better off making a pvc one.

any suggestions for a sand scoop that is super tough . one that i can stomp into hard dirt/muck while lake hunting ?

Buy a diamond head stainless, I have one and I can tell you if you can damage this scoop you are superman. It's heavy but it will over last you.

If you stay in dry sand it will last a while, if you try to use it in the wet sand much you will snap the handle off, been there done that when I first started and did not realize how much stress is put on the scoop handle.

A good scoop is most important tool next to your detector.

Holes are too big you will have to dig small targets all over again. If you step on wet sand it will bend with an easy. Get something else.......POS!!!
