Are sea shells an indicator for some sort of pickins?

Can you tell if an area of an ocean beach is good to hunt due to the shells that are visible? Something like larger shells vs. small ones? I'm a lake hunter most of the year, so I need you ocean going experts for this one. Wouldn't mind finding some gold!

Hey looks like you have enough gold for a life time. shells are lighter than gold, so maybe, But is harder on your scoop. You may want to remove the surface area of shells first. Shells tells me mother nature is doing her thing.

Happy hunting.
