Pretty sure it was a pendant. But 2 1/2 seems like such an odd thing to have on a pendant. The other side is nearly identical, but without the little swirls at the bottom. ? ? :dontknow:

It does look similar. The tab on the top DOES have hole, so it was a pendant... but is it a COIN made into a pendant? That type/color of metal makes me think it was a coin.

it's a 'counter' from some early 20 century game. I have dug some also and read about them from 'ask Mark Parker'.

You are correct. I was searching for the old Mark Parker article when you posted. Good ID.

Hold on a minute! I don't think that this one is solved just yet.

Just based on the photos, the 'counter' pictured is definitely a cast item!
Whereas your original photo shows a grooved ring(partially missing) that
held the coin/counter. Nowadays they have the same kind of holders of
different sizes to hold specific coins as pendants. Some are even made of
the same precious as the coins they hold, like gold for instance.

Could you soak and clean the coin? Perhaps with some vinegar with a
teaspoon of salt? Then give us your best pictures of BOTH the front and back?

There is more to find out about this COIN!
