Hello fellows, i was out today up north at the cabin and i did not hit my old logging camp i was after because of the beavers made a wide canal and i could not get across it...will have to take the long route next time. anyway here is what i found at an old homestead by the waters edge, any guesses on what it might be.. it is threaded on each end of the rod and the right side is a left hand thread so i thought it might be turnbuckle of some sort or a fence stretcher...one hook is broke off as you can see...getting cold here in minnesota and i only have a few weeks left before the ground freezes and deer hunting is next week so ,i have to put meat in the freezer before i hunt again...

thanks,

It seems to me that I have seen an apparatus similar to this on some 1950's era cars used as tensioners or dividers on emergency brake cables.

You very well could be right. But I believe they went on into the 60's also. I wouldn't have thought of this if YOU hadn't mentioned it though. Good suggestion.
