Hello fellows, i was out today up north at the cabin and i did not hit my old logging camp i was after because of the beavers made a wide canal and i could not get across it...will have to take the long route next time. anyway here is what i found at an old homestead by the waters edge, any guesses on what it might be.. it is threaded on each end of the rod and the right side is a left hand thread so i thought it might be turnbuckle of some sort or a fence stretcher...one hook is broke off as you can see...getting cold here in minnesota and i only have a few weeks left before the ground freezes and deer hunting is next week so ,i have to put meat in the freezer before i hunt again...

thanks, 20131103_213556.webp20131103_213601.webp20131103_213606.webp20131103_213625.webp20131103_213649.webp

Going off of taz42o's idea I'm thinking pedal car axle or the front axle from an old radio flyer wagon.

Or the rear axle from a kid's tricycle. Pretty sure it's an axle, though...

It looks mighty small to be an axle to me, but I guess it could be for a tiny ride-on toy of some sort. However, it seems to me that I have seen an apparatus similar to this on some 1950's era car used as tensioners or dividers on emergency brake cablees, and I want to say a 1958 Chevy, but just not real sure.

Maybe a part to an old windmill for pumping water?
