Yea Mongo I fell threatened lol. Lets see, I like the whites, cause when I see one, I crank up the sens on my F75 and watch the guy go nuts lol. Never seen a AT Pro in use, so I must have found the only tweve or so in use on here lol. Theres another brand I will follow around and dig silver up behind it, but he nows who he is and what he is running. But Mongo said one thing right, you use the tool for the job. As a rule, I only dig trash if I cant tell the difference between trash and a gold ring. While I have on occassion dug below my elbow. Its not my practice to do so in a city park. Most places here in the desert you hit caliche at about 10 inches. In town not so, you hit sand, just like the beach, can dig it with your hand. But I tell you what you can not beat, no matter if you spend hundreds or thousands on your machine. That is the science, know your machine, you will do well. Learn the limits and run it with what works. From what I am seeing, everyone in the buisness is busy and things are back ordered. Sounds like a new gold rush to me. But my beef would be if you bought your AT Pro because you seen some actor with one on TV. I hate to see good folk taken advantage of.

People may be suckers for marketing, but I don't think the ATP is a bad machine. Yeah, a lot of people were probably sold the minute they saw it on the show. But who cares to each their own.....

I can tell you that I will never own a Minelab. Not because I don't think they are good machines- they seem very impressive- but 1) I can't afford one, and 2) it's hard for me to buy something that has an AMERICAN MADE competition.

The 3 detectors I had it narrowed down to when i first decided to get into the hobby were actually:

1)AT Pro
2)Fisher F5
3)X-Terra 505

All were in the same price range but the 505 was out as soon as I found out the other 2 were actually made here! Wow! I can't believe more of you guys aren't happy about this?!?! This is America...... and all this time I been thinking they we don't build anything anymore except guns and cars...... I had to double check because I knew these things were electronic!

Come on!!! I mean holy $#!+ WE REALLY MAKE SOMETHING ELECTRONIC????? I didn't just pull a Marty McFly and get zapped back to 1955- we actually, really, in real life, in 2013 make something that takes batteries in the United States of America!

I'm still astounded. And it makes me proud and ashamed at the same time if the makes any sense at all.

So, anyway....... why did I go with the Fisher?
I flipped a coin.

White's not only make great detectors they are made in the USA. Has a big made in the USA sticker on my v3i. Which is a hella of a machine. On top of that their customer service is bar none the best in a the world and, believe it or not, the reps are located in the USA as well.

Made in America isnt what it used to be...sometimes its put together in the usa with parts made from china ...and they still consider that made in America so unless you know where the parts come from its anyones guess ...somethings should say assembled in America that would be little more truthful

I agree, assembled in America would be more accurate for many products. But I doubt my White's has very many chinese parts. But even if some of the integrated circuits are made in china it is not White's fault that our government has gutted our manufacturing sector and some parts may not be available as American made.

Off topic...Having been involved in the electronics industry since '99, I think a lot of people would be shocked to know how many electronic components are actually made in the US and populated/assembled in other countries then shipped back to the US for further assembly. One thing I will agree on, Made in the USA doesn't mean what it once did.

Yeah, I'm aware. Tesoro, Whites, BH, etc are made here, that's why I singled out Minelab! Lol

Absolutely right! And yes I would be shocked, this was shocking to me!

I have to wonder if the so called "Diggers" shows were swinging anything else but Garrett, how far threads like this one would have gotten. :tongue3:

Ya know as much as I can't stand those 2 guys I watched all of there episodes just because they were doin something I like & the Atpro is all I seen them use

I agree totally, I'm new to the hobby and bought a Garrett as a beginner machine, but it had absolutely nothing to do with the show. I had been eying my machine for two years before I decided to buy it. Now I am already eying my next machine and the AT is on my list along with F5 and 505. For now i am enjoying what I have and want to master it before moving up. Gotta walk before you can run IMO!

Well said i mean I bought my Atpro before I actually new that show even existed I just happen to stumble across it when I was researchin the detector

They actually use at golds, and switch coils from time to time, i dont think they ever used a pro

Are we talking about the same to meatballs with there own language I haven't seen any of there vids using the gold I've only seen them using the pro never the gold

Same 3 MD's I had my choices down to!

Well the T2 strikes gold today. I hunt with a buddy named Jeff and he couldn't believe it. It was 2.6 gr for a black gold ring. I consider the T2 a equal to my F75, and a better relic machine. I suspect in the right hands, the T2 could have easily been the detector for these whackadoodles and their antics on all these digger shows. But yes, I enjoy the twins better than the mansion(savage) family detecting show. If you need a back hoe to do your digging, you better have a trammel and a sluice hooked up to run the dirt through it.

When all the brain wash and hype wears off. I hope folks start considering machines for the job. I always laugh, mu detector is waterproof. Makes me think you take baths with it or something. If you don't have a avatar of you in a diving suit, what is your point?

Now we have a new digger show coming up that will be the nails in the coffin. From what I have seen, I didn't see one AT Pro in it lol. I know which guys I will be watching. Yep, watched a friend dig up gold today, if you didn't pull up gold today, consider getting a real machine.

So a Garret AT machine wouldn't have found that same ring? I may be new to the hobby, but I find that hard to believe Casca!

Hi Marh, my understanding by AT Pro users is you don't have to leave the house, just watch the digger shows. It was found at 3"inchs, so no I don't believe AT Pro's would be able to see it as they all dig at 10" inches or deeper. If you listen to the claims, only pro mode works. Gold comes in as foil to a nickel depending on size and make up. Yes, if you didn't have to discriminate out bottle caps you could find the ring with the AT Pro. Im just saying no one post finds on this thread but folks without AT Pro's. For that matter, I have yet to see anyone use a AT Pro in any park or places I hunt. I look forward to that moment. So my answer would have to be, no, I don't think a AT Pro could find it, as no one owns them here. I should post my finds for the day, lol. Because most of the folks here like their AT Pro, and seem to be new. I have to be nice and not post my finds. A good day for me is paying for gas and a snack. I live for rings, and any jewelry. I have found my niche. Since I started out with a magnet on a stick, yes I could find that ring with a AT Pro, but no, I don't think AT Pro users could find it. Not without help. Hey, a;; you got to do is watch the tv shows right?
