We went to Hilton Head for a few hours and found these things, lots of people not many signals..
BUT I have never found a plastic thing full of money… 11 quarters and a penny… 😳😲 plus that crazy Christian Cross Ring though it’s not silver or gold 🤷🏼‍♂️
Didn’t get a chance to really hunt much as the wife was with me and didn’t think she wanted to be on the beach after dark…

I think the quarters in the plastic are for the parking meter.
Are there parking meters in the area?
Actually there is a FREE parking lot near where this was, I have not seen ANY parking meters (or pay for parking) on Hilton Head though I have not been everywhere out there..

At most all the beaches on Hilton Head you either have to have a annual parking permit, paid by the hour or pay a parking meter.

There may be very few free parking spaces, but I'm not sure if so or how many if a fact but I can tell you they want the income from the beach parking.

Even though I live here I very seldom go to the beaches, at via public access.

Congratulations on your nice hunt

Attached is a picture of the beach we were at, small blue on right is maybe 10 parking spots with 3-4 handicap… none are metered. (We have parked here multiple times and nowhere to pay for parking) the other (big blue circle 🔵) appears to be a public parking area and we used that Saturday afternoon when the other was full, although we parked in a handicap spot (no charge) I didn’t see anywhere that it was asking anyone to pay for parking 🤷🏼‍♂️ no signs and no collection when we left…

Good beach to hunt there on HH. Was there a week ago with family. Not able to detect much in my bad health, but still enjoyed the seafood on the island....and sitting in the swings on Coligny. 😁

Yes it’s a really nice beach, clean bathrooms and outdoor showers to clean off after leaving the beach, it was a madhouse Saturday.. I went around 3pm and there were too many people to even move much.. so I had to wait until 8pm … I want to go back.. I’m thinking there are no signs preventing overnight parking, I’ve been there late and early several times and nobody said anything..

Not sure about overnight parking. I think they close it after dark.

I’ve actually hunted this beach after dark, I don’t know if the bathrooms are open after maybe 10pm but we left after dark Saturday night and there were still hundreds of people out on the beach… watching a thunderstorm and the almost full moon 🌕

That's Coligny Beach Park, it is free parking "now" it appears, it used to be all paid parking down there, that must of changed in the last 2 to 3 years, it's been awhile since I've been down there, it's the main public beach on the south end of the island.

Here's a link to the Town's Coligny Beach Park webpage, the hours are 6am to 10pm.

Here's another link about beach parking fees/cost.

A little back story, years ago in Myrtle Beach I was told that Veterans don't have to pay for parking, just get a veterans tag, and that's why I applied for a Veterans tag. (NC) at the time I applied, they asked if I wanted a disabled tag or not, I opted for one since I am service connected.

Incredibly I'm not sure if this applies in NC, my home state, although most Handicap spots are no charge if available...
  • Disabled veterans and recipients of the Purple Heart are exempt from the payment of municipal parking meter fees when their vehicles bear a disabled veteran's or Purple Heart license plate issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. A new parking privilege has been added to certain military license plates that allows free parking in metered areas in SC. These benefits do not apply to military license plates issued before May 6, 2022.
