Detector(s) used
AT PRO and a BH 505 that I let friends and relatives I don't like use.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I just recently purchased the AT PRO from Bart at Big Boys Hobbies so I only have a few hours on this machine.
I have to say I really like it.
I've looked around on the forum and can't really find an answer for this.
I hoping some of the experienced guys might have a recomendation on settings
I'm in a very trashy area that should have some silver in it but very littered with lots of old roofing nails ( HALO HELL :BangHead: ) and the typical other crap.
I'm not certain that there is a clean spot in this area to ground balance on.
Auto ground balance is coming up 89 and 90 so I'm probably GB on trash.
In this situation should I manually back my GB down to around 80 ? :icon_scratch:
I'm running Pro Zero with discrimination at 30.
Thanks for the help.

Hey thanks, I wasn't sure what to do.

Make sure you detect with cell phone turned off and lower sens. some.

You can't do a true ground balance if trash is under the coil. You can find a clean spot easy. Set absolutely zero scrim, pro mode. Set sense to about 4. Set iron scrim to zero too, let it all in. Now as you sweep, you will hear everything. Find a spot that is free of signals and you can gb there. It does not need to be that big, just a couple feet square or so is big enough.

like others have said - you can't ground balance out the trash. you have to do that with your ears!

I'd put it into pro mode, zero. And then you can hear the nails as low iron tones. You will also hear the chirps of silver mixed it. Just dig the high tones, and don't dig the iron tones

And use a small coil!
