I hit a good sale Saturday morning in a very expensive neighborhood. Headed straight for the jewelry table and started a pile. I grabbed some silver pieces, a very nice ladies Gucci watch, a coach purse and this very unusual looking stone. Paid $20 for the lot. I showed the stone to a couple jewelers and they said it was an Australian black opal. 11 x 16 mm, 4.95 ct. dome-top cabochon. Value: $150 wholesale - $350 retail. Awesome color in it. I hope to get $200 IMG_0815.JPG IMG_0810.JPG IMG_0809.JPG

Awesome! Can’t beat $20. Can you post clearer photos of the stone?

I’ve got a pair of opal earrings that I figure are Australian. Just have not listed them yet. You are inspiring me! Great score!
