Thanks for your concern Pete. I am safe on a ridge, but the roads are frequently under water and we can't get to the local shops to get the basics. Luckily the water usually drops in a few hours, enough to get through. Tried to get to our local city yesterday, Toowoomba, but the highway was closed in both directions due to flooding and landslides on the range. Turned around and was lucky enough to be able to get home... just. Sad thing is a lot of folk are much worse off and the weather looks like it may continue for another 3 months according to reports. My daughter and her hubby live 'down the range' too and both work in Toowoomba. Many days they cannot get to work due to the flash flooding creeks in their area. He is a Manager of a Shell servo and she works with disabled folk so they are needed. Our area is a farm produce area that supplies local and Brisbane, however, all the crops have been drowned. My own tractor has been bogged since before xmas and it may have to sit there till March by the sound of things. Yep, we have all had enough and I hate it when townies say " I love the rain" We all do, but not like this.
As for the gold, we can't get to the goldfields at present... totally cut off.
