Relic Hunting
Four of us were going to hunt a new campsite today that has been producing some nice relics but two could not hunt today so we agreed we would hold off hunting that site until all four of us could hunt it. So Tnrelicman and I went back to our campsite that we have been hunting for quite some time. I must have dug 30 shotgun hulls before lunch. By early afternoon Guy had already found several bullets and a couple buttons. I was getting hot and tired and was about to call it quits when I got another good signal. Thinking it was another shotgun hull I was suprised to see a very nice Eagle cuff button. Then just a few feet away from there I got another good signal. I hollered over to Guy that I finally got my first bullet of the day. I swept the hole and got another signal. Another bullet. Then I saw three or four bullets laying in the dirt that I removed. I just kept getting signals in that little two foot square area. Some were very faint and deep. In all I pulled out 18 three ringers and one fired or carved or just a piece of camp lead. Need to clean to find out. It is late and I am tired so I will clean later. The button is in great shape and has a solid shank.

Great bullets and cuff button. I love digging bullets and would love to find a spot like that.

Randy, you and Guy were due a good hunt like you had. Make sure to post some cleaned up pics. The button should really clean up well. I spent most of today with Dman as we attended the Franklin CW show. After Dman visited the 1,000 tables there on two levels with his crutches, he was more tired than you were-LOL. WTG, Quindy.

Thats alotta lead,Congrats!!

You cleaned up today buddy, it was your time....next time we just need to bring a bigger shovel lol...

Thanks Doug. I don't why but we have found several mulitple bullet finds at that site. Of course this has been the most. We are thinking about going back and digging a pit since some of them were pretty deep.

Thanks Quindy. I am still amazed at how much we have found at this campsite. These were found at a spot that we have not concentrated on much. It was pretty close to the entrance into the woods. This is a huge camp and there is no telling where the finds will be.

Thanks Guy. I believe we need to remove some topsoil and cut thru those roots and see what is deeper. Some of those bullet signals were at the max on the MXT. They were very faint and just barely audible. We need to get Mike and Sham in there and cover that area pretty good. Maybe we are getting closer to where the main camp was.

:headbang: Wow, you guys did fantastic my friend. You made up for the day on that one plug! Congrats Randy. I wish I could have come

Thanks Mike. I wish you could have came too. I would love to see how your GPX does in there. Good luck at the hunt next week. I wish I could go because I did pretty good the last time we were there.

Lead is looking very nice! I love diggin those heavy little buggers!

Cleaned up pictures added.

I need to do some more work on the button. I just cleaned with soap and water so far. This is how the buttons come out of the woods here in Tennessee.

Nice job TH. Which coil were you using?

Because we were hunting deep in the woods and it was pretty brushy I used the 6x10 DD coil. It works well in there because it does not get hung up like the open coils do. When I am hunting in the fields or more open sites I love to use my 10x12 SEF coil. That is my primary coil.

Nice Job Randy, that was a productive Day. I've had moments like that over the years as well, where ONE dig hole produces 10 to 20 bullets...each scoop of dirt has 3 or 4 in it...I love

those! Congratulations buddy and glad to see you and Guy recovering those nice Tennessee Relics!! :occasion14:
