Awesome hunt with good friend = 1749 oldest coin!

Met up with Steve of PA at the old park woods we have been hitting this fall. We have about 20 combined hours at the main homestead and still keep pulling decent finds.

After the first hour I only pulled 2 decent finds.
Yes, finally my first glass boot shot glass.

Then I dug my first nice button range signal after a dozen shotgun shell ends.

Some kind of military button? ID help welcome.



Decided to push deeper into the briars surrounding the side of the cellar hole. Super shallow penny signal turned out to be a 1905 IHP, then a 4" deep signal that was bouncy.

Called Steve over to check out what looked like a Large Cent in the hole.

Steve cleared off the dirt and he said it looked like a KG coin. Later it cleaned up OK and I am psyched that it has a readable date and some decent details.


1749 KG II, my best KG yet and my oldest date readable coin!

Here is the handful of keepers.

The suspender buckles have some fancy and a token (still have to research) make for a nice hunt.

Thad you had a great hunt today. I'm still amazed that aKGII came out of that place, but for some reason the thought of a King George showing up kept popping up in my mind. Aren't you glad I talked you out of walking down to that other house site? Like I said if you're catching fish there's no reason to move. Your token is a beer token.

Thx man! We've pounded this site pretty good, so I was happy to start popping some keepers, hunt started really slow. I've been traveling for work a lot lately and haven't had time to hunt, so this definitely was a fun afternoon.

Thx! I Googled military police pin and crossed pistols pin and found a number of similar pieces. Maybe it's WW1 or WW2, thanks for the lead!

Actually I had a 2 liter glass bier boot in college. Took 4 Milwaukee's Best cans to fill her! I had some fun back then... Not much of a shot guy, so I gave it to my wife this evening to add to her old glass bottle center piece.

Thx Steve! I guess I now have a beer token to go with the whiskey token from this site a few weeks back. With the KGII, this site has quite a range of targets. I still want to do the long hike and hit the other sites. Let's hope for a mild winter!

My buddy STC beat me to it. I found 15-1749 coins at my ancestors mill site. They’re a great piece of our history
