Well went to an island today and found part of an axe. My buddy swore I had the other part but I wasn't sure. Plus all my rock is packed up in the new house. Well it ate at me and despite the protest of my wife I went to the house and started opening boxes. Finally I pulled the half out and it fit! In the first picture the top part was found this morning and the bottom part was found in oct 2011. There is still a small piece missing from the hammer end and ill be looking for that forever.

Very neat to do that. I would guess it would of broke when in use. Can you think of how it would of happened at the time it broke? And what was said when it broke, lol

I think it broke during a massive flood we had. Since the it was so close together but could be wrong.

That is cool way to go.

i have a celt i would like to match up,gotta go back there.nice bsit.

Thanks Jamey. So close to plowing here in keep going back by my site hoping to see fresh dirt. Gotta match those bits I have to ends.

The needle in the haystack will be finding the small piece still missing. It's got a part of the groove so that will help.

That is killer! Good for you man! Good luck with the small piece... send me some luck too please..haha

Not to hijack the thread, but, good to see you Gator! Also, did you find that Celt bit? It's pretty kick @$$!

Yeah I just need his luck now.

I feel ya gator. Can't wait till they plow my fields. 5 bits there last year.

EVEN BETTER..you are on or near the site the work was being done.. I'm sure you know that. There will be more... I bet you see images of axe heads the whole time you walk that place.

I'm constantly looking for larger rock. Always scanning for points but I'm second scanning for anything larger.

Gator, once you find your first grooved axe head, suddenly small flaked points lose their position as the sought after artifact. You probably know this. That Celt you found late last year gave you a taste of what I'm talking about I'm sure. That groove though, it just does something to a persons blood. To see it in the dirt, and to pick it up. Wow!! Just like Santa clause may have left it there. You feel just like a child on Christmas morning.

Belive me I know what you mean. Hardstone doesn't even exist where I am....and to find a flawless celt made of it.... CHRISTMAS.

Wooohoooo!!! Make you want to yell!! But you can't , you may alarm someone, then your grounds are known! Lol!! I get hype just thinking about those finds. The ones that may happen every five years or so.

My first one was at 3 months into hunting. I showed it off for months. Imagine how my hunting buds hated me. They've been hunting for years before I started. Still waiting for another moment like that.
