That first axe is a beauty. I also like the last one. Do you know what type stone the last one is? It looks like rhyolite, but I'm not certain. Cool banding. The raised ridge is immaculate! Back to your first pic.

Hello Fishstick,

Flint is faked, slate is faked and pipes are faked. Stone tools are faked too. You will know if you have a fake axe.

The first axe is full of iron. Magnetic. The rest are not. I should post the rest of my axes. I collect 8-9" museum quality. And larger sometimes. I am into hardstone for sure.

I love hard stone as well. In fact, I'm partial to hard stone. I wouldn't trade a gem grade point for my most plow scared axe head. I've never seen or even thought to put a magnet to any of my finds. Iron is hard. Can you imagine the time primitive man must have put into your axe? It's raised ridge, meaning the whole stone was worked down. Everything but the small section around the groove. ( lost lake, I know you know this already. I'm pointing out beauty to others that may not see it.) this is an extraordinary piece. I believe you. I'm sure it's authentic. However, if it were made yesterday, I would shake the man's hand that made it. This axe, my friends, is true primitive art!!!
