First i would like to thank Bergie for his amazing generosity in inviting me up to New York to hunt with him and the guys. he put me on some absolutely awesome sites to hunt! i cant get over how beautiful New York State is in the fall. being in the woods at these early colonial sites this time of year really is pretty stunning! i`m going to have to post these finds in separate posts since i cant seem to figure out how to post pictures with text in between!
( hey i can barely figure out my cell phone!
)
the first site we hit was an old camp ground where good stuff has been found in the past. we hunted for a few hours but we weren't really coming up with much. Bergie and I both managed a wheatie or two, Earthworks found a cool pocket watch, but that was about it. this site is huge and i have no doubt if we had more time we would have found something great!
we decided to go to another site. we had very good luck at this site. even though Bergie and the guys have hit this site hard in the past, Earthworks came out with two large cents, Goingdown found a King George II copper and Bergie found a very cool round ball!
after a few hours of swinging i get a signal. i dig down about 7 inches and out pops this 1733 King George II copper in pretty nice shape! i have only found two colonial coins prior to this so i was stoked!
