Hi again!

Four hours searching time yesterday morning at three different schoolyards in a school district east of us that I never hit before. I only found 69 coins, $4.33 in clad, but the jewelry was rolling in. I found like 40 pieces of jewelry, mostly trinkets of course but also diamonds, gold, and silver too.

Keepers:
- A 10k Gold heart pendant with 15 small diamonds around the outside.
- A Sterling bracelet, thick but tiny like for a very young child. Found in the tot lot.
- 2 different Sterling Earrings.
- An earring with a huge, like 3 carat white stone. It says 18K on the hallmark but I need to check it on the micoscope at work tomorrow to make sure. I am pretty sure the stone is not a diamond. It's just too big.
- A nice thick gold chain that is gold plated I think not solid. It says 1/20 12KG on the hallmark. It's in good shape and wearable.

There were some old dig holes , not fresh at all, filled in and trash removed :) , at these schools so I am thinking that someone searched it in the early summer. It is only logical to think that the detector I use plus my search and setting methods are finding stuff the newer detectors are missing. The others are finding most of the the coins but missing most of the jewelry. Some of it was deeper too. The gold chain was 6 inches wadded up in a ball. The gold heart thing was 4 inches, so these weren't just lost.

I also found this LCD thing that when screwed together lights up and blinks all different colors. It's pretty cool. I have found about 6 of these this summer but they were just the top part with a threaded area and I had no idea what they were. Now I know. My kid said that they have rings and pendants out that these plug into but they aren't allowed in the schools as the blinking patterns can make an epilleptic person have a siezure.

I also had a first. I found both earrings of a set. They are costune jewelry but that was cool. Found them right on the edge of the chips, next to the timber border by the steel spike holding the timber. The spike sounds off my detector but I could hear a slightly increased intencity to the signal so I dug and out they popped.

Happy hunting to all. Thanks for reading!

Smiles!

I did it all and that means a lot of trash, but it's worth it on days like this.
Thanks for the friendly comment Surlrat!

Not sure but that heart looks like it might be a "Peretti", handled by Tiffany's.

Hi Cyn

I wish it was but I don't think it is. It doesn't say "Tiffany Co" on it anywhere. But it's sweet anyways. Thanks for stopping and suggesting that!

I'm not sure but I'm almost certain that Americans lose almost too much stuff.

Arrr-matey! but that be the glory of it all! 8)

Badger

I guess we lost stuff in our young age too, but the kids now a days don't value a dollar anymore. Heck, they probably chuck quarters out because they are "worthless".
I am sounding old huh. I am sure my parents said the same about my generation. :)

Thanks Badger!!

Very nice finds as usual.

I hope that big honkin' stone ends up being a diamond!
Thanks mlw!
I will check it at work on the microscope tomorrow and go from there...I wish it was, but am thinking it can't be.

Hey Booby, please tell everybody about the machine you use. I dont know much about that model but I think that has a bit to do with how you find so much jewelry. Sounds like it runs on different frequencies or something, maybe more in tune with sand/chips. Also your settings, sens, disc, etc. I also wonder how that particular machine does in grass & soil compared to your 250. Do you use this detector exclusively in play areas & go to your Ace 250 in grass & dirt? Great finds & Im ready for your seminar too! ;D

As you know, for Th'ing in the woodchips, I use a 1980's machine. It's a Garrett TR (transmitter reciever) type machine and it still works perfectly and is a real jewelry finder. In the 1980's, I found over 300 rings at one site alone with it so it does work well in soil too. In sand... not so good. It doesn't have any ground balancing feature. I do think it is better at finding the jewelry than the Ace, especially gold, silver might be a wash. I guess a lot depends on how efficient the user is. I am a pro with the older one and still learning my Ace.

I do have to search in non-discrimination mode and dig everything to get the most out of the machine. There are pitfalls in everything I guess. :)

I must say that a lot of my finds are in the woodchipped areas but away from the play structures. Near the timber borders or out in the open areas between play structures are not always searched by others I guess. Plus with my machine I can get very close to the metal poles and timber stakes. I have found stuff with my coil 1 inch from the pole. My detector is sounding off full blast of course but I have learned to listen for slight variations in the tone while the coil is moving next to these steel posts etc.

I do use this machine sometimes out in the field too if there is a high chance to find gold jewelry. But I have to dig the trash too so that isn't very efficient if the digging is difficult. I need to learn my new machine better too or upgrade to some of the nice machines others have. I am researching.

I am scheduling a seminar, and will let y'all know...lol. ;)

Thanks for everything AP!!!!
