Hi again!
Four hours searching time yesterday morning at three different schoolyards in a school district east of us that I never hit before. I only found 69 coins, $4.33 in clad, but the jewelry was rolling in. I found like 40 pieces of jewelry, mostly trinkets of course but also diamonds, gold, and silver too.
Keepers:
- A 10k Gold heart pendant with 15 small diamonds around the outside.
- A Sterling bracelet, thick but tiny like for a very young child. Found in the tot lot.
- 2 different Sterling Earrings.
- An earring with a huge, like 3 carat white stone. It says 18K on the hallmark but I need to check it on the micoscope at work tomorrow to make sure. I am pretty sure the stone is not a diamond. It's just too big.
- A nice thick gold chain that is gold plated I think not solid. It says 1/20 12KG on the hallmark. It's in good shape and wearable.
There were some old dig holes , not fresh at all, filled in and trash removed
, at these schools so I am thinking that someone searched it in the early summer. It is only logical to think that the detector I use plus my search and setting methods are finding stuff the newer detectors are missing. The others are finding most of the the coins but missing most of the jewelry. Some of it was deeper too. The gold chain was 6 inches wadded up in a ball. The gold heart thing was 4 inches, so these weren't just lost.
I also found this LCD thing that when screwed together lights up and blinks all different colors. It's pretty cool. I have found about 6 of these this summer but they were just the top part with a threaded area and I had no idea what they were. Now I know. My kid said that they have rings and pendants out that these plug into but they aren't allowed in the schools as the blinking patterns can make an epilleptic person have a siezure.
I also had a first. I found both earrings of a set. They are costune jewelry but that was cool. Found them right on the edge of the chips, next to the timber border by the steel spike holding the timber. The spike sounds off my detector but I could hear a slightly increased intencity to the signal so I dug and out they popped.
Happy hunting to all. Thanks for reading!
