Okay.....as they say, the journey of a thousand miles starts with one small step. Last night me and the Mastereagle rang in the season with our first group hunt of the year. I refer to it as a "group" hunt because he is so freakishly big! ;D He is as tall as a six-foot, three-inch tree and three axe handles wide. ::)

We didn't really have anywhere to go, so we headed back to a private residence where he and I have gone many times. This place has produced over a dozen Mercs from the 20's and 30's, jewelry, a civil war fork, Tootsie toys and even a foreign coin. We love this place, but it is really been pounded. The night was pretty uneventful, but I managed to take a few lessons from ME22 regarding my new SE Pro. I was suprised....he really seems to know that detector! I almost thought he was smart a couple of times while he was tutoring me. (He has a mind like a steel trap, although rusty.....and the hinge doesn't work anymore.) I found lots of iron signals, but few high tones. I finally managed a wheat penny. It was a 1952D. Other than trash, that is all we found. ::)

We left this place and went to eat. ME22 had no money, so once again I had to bail him out. I payed for his twenty or so burgers and then jumped back from his hands and mouth. :tard: He has been referred to as “The Hungry Thing” at Hardees. With our bellies full, we decided to head back out hunting.

Like Mastereagle….the plan was simple, ONLY this plan might work. :icon_study: We were going to head off to the oldest part of town, and hit a yard that we had done before. We found some old printing plates in this yard from the 1920's, and were holding out hope something was left there. This is a very old part of town, and was the original road that led to a courthouse standing during the Civil War. They marched Confederate prisoners down this road to jail in the basement of the court house. We didn't find much though. I found a 1916 wheat amongst some rusty square nails, and ME22 found an awesome button that I believe is a Confederate Uniform button. I will post a few pics of his button....What do you all think?

Ain't that the truth!! Gosh, I really missed y'all's posts, and thrilled y'all are back at it again. ME 20+ hamburgers, how in the world?? ;D Never mind. ;D

Really can't tell too much on that button, but at least y'all was able to get out and start detectin' again without someone having to get bailed out of jail or just staying out of trouble.

Great to have y'all back.

 RR

LOL...Man, BB......Your killing me buddy!!! I was gonna try to ID the button, but the tears in my eyes werent letting me get a good view of it. I tried and tried, but just kept seeing burgers running for their lives with the GROUP in hot pursuit!

Take care,

Nice button, does it have any markings on in that may say Haydens & Co. I found one just like it yesterday, found out it was made around 1851 in Connecticut.

Looks like all of us are glad you two are at it again. It might have been a slow start but you got the engine running

Looking forward to the adventures of Baldingboy and Mastereagle.... The finders of lost treasures. Hey, you two could be the next Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and that's a good thing. Thanks for sharing the finds and for the great entertainment! :)
