I figured I better get out this morning, while the sun was out and snow in is in the forecast.

I went back to the permission I got last weekend. About 30 minutes in I got a good signal under a bush. Dug down about 7 inches and pulled the large 6" skeleton key. I figured since I pulled a cool relic, I'd try to hang out and finish the dry areas of the yard. The next notable target was the 1908 Barber quarter (Only the 2nd one I've dug). A few feet away I dug an odd signal and out came a wheat and what I believe to be my 1st steel penny (another bucket lister). They were stacked, one on top of the other. Other cool finds were a small metal pistol (revolving barrel type), a cool old Champion 6 Lever lock, 6 wheats (1930, 34, 42, 45x2 & 52D), and two aluminum tokens, one is from shell oil "Famous Facts & Faces" series and the other is a Ulysses S. Grant President token. Not bad for about a 2.5 hr hunt.

What great hunt, Loco, the variety is outstanding. Your little "pepperbox" pistol is a game piece for the board game of "Clue." I have found one too and I like mine! Happy hunting, Sub 8-)

Congratz Loco! I love that key! Good job finding another Barber quarter and the steel penny will have to be in a spill for me to ever find one. :occasion14:
