Today I met up with McNickel and Goio for some park action and within 5 minutes I pulled this baby up from 4 or 5 inches. I was happy as heck as this is my 1st V-Nickel for the year (I skipped over the V's and found my Shield Nickel a few months ago). Well I gotta say it was HOT, I tried to stay in the shade as much as possible but I was pouring sweat the whole time!!! I kept drinking water but I just sweated it out almost immediately. I took a few breaks but at the very end of our hunt I had to sit down under a tree because I was getting dizzy as heck (combonation of heat and lack of sleep).
Man I can't believe how far out of my element I am when it comes to hunting parks, believe it or not I find it 1,000 times harder to hunt open parks than I do in the deepest overgrown woods so it is gonna take me sometime to get used to it but I'm eager to learn how (I do 99.99% of my hunting in the woods). Oh and I need to SLOOOOOOW way down to maybe 1/4 speed too.
I wound up finding the 1901 V, a 1945d Wheatie, $1.05 in clad and a pouch full of canslaw, wine tops, beaver tails, and iron bits including an old iron church key (bottle opener). McNickel and Goio found a lot of great stuff, we are gonna go back soon so hopefully it will cool down a bit so I can concentrate and get more oldies.
