bazooka gold trap

Hey tweeta_bear maybe I can use one of these guys to haul my stuff. Took this pic one morning in 2012 on one of my trips out west. This is the road that ran along the river just outside Lake Havasu. Seen the signs about looking out for the wild burros and next thing I know came around a corner and there they were, turned around and got a pic.

i have been reading alot about guys who line up their BGT sluices. i cant this. the small sluice in front of the big one... why bother and if you put the smaller one after the bigger one dont it get covered with the tailings from the big one? id like to see this setup in action if any one has video!

I dont see how that would work like you say tailings would pile up and I thi k mess up the flow into the tubes. I did see a guy have a box he built that directed the material that comes off the top to the side and laid a regular sluice after that the material out of the fluid bed ran across.

I spent half a summer paining tailings my bazooka has never lost gold so I feel its over kill.

That's is nice to know.

Have any of you tried the bazooka gold traps? If so, how did it compare to the standard riffled box?

I recently bought a super-mini gold trap. I went out to the East Fork San Gabriel to test it out. Hiked in about a 1/4 mile from Heaton flats. I hiked in with just 2 pans, a small shovel, and my super-mini in my pack. I was able to hike in hands free. No bucket or classifier. I picked a spot and used my pan as a bucket. I filled up about a dozen 12" panfulls of material. I sampled for about 40 minutes with 2 clean-outs. 4 flakes.

Okay, so I didn't have a bucket. I pulled out the big rocks from my pan, and dropped it in. Then cleared the grizzilies as needed. But I fed that thing as fast as I could. No problems. Since I got those 4 flakes, I'm sold on the gold trap.

I will live with my super-mini because cleaning out is so fast and easy. I don't mind cleaning out more often in exchange for a packable gold trap.

i did alright for a few hrs on the south platte!

Dang Golden, that's some great gold!

Thank 425jesse. Had fun getting it. 20 minutes from the house. no parking fees and an easy hike. What I like the most is if there is Gold anywhere near the Bazooka it will capture it for you. Much Gold to You.

What size it that, a mini?

GG~

GG it's a Super Mini. It needs the fluid bed cleaned out more often but I can drop it into a sampling pan for clean out if need be. The take in the pic was from five buckets unclassified that had some metamorphic cobble pieces in there that took up 1/4 of the bucket. I like the size of the Super as it leaves more room in the pack for tools.

Dang Mojo, you got the fever. You upgraded from the vial to a mayo jar yet?

I've got a few more sandwiches to go before the jar will be ready..........

I certainly captured lots of -50 and -100,
but I was thrilled at the bigger stuff too!

425jesse Nice take on the gold. How did the sniper do for feeding it and clearing the grizzlies? Did you classify or shovel directly into it? How often did you clean out? That big rock at the top of the picture looks prime for moving/ shoveling.

The first time I used it I didn't classify in some really high flow. This time I did classify to somewhere between 1" and 1/2". I use expanded metal pressed into the bottom of a bucket, and dunk it into another bucket full of water. When using the classified I fed using my hand shovel and sat comfortably next to it in a rock. It cleared like an allstar and I really enjoyed watching the gold dance down the trap! I cleaned out every 10 to 15 gallons of classified material, but could go longer if I wanted. I was with a friend who had never prospected before so we were getting him some killer practice.

We dug on the backsides of a few big rocks, like the one in the second picture.

425, just a thought I use 3 gallon buckets inside a 5 gallon bucket to classify. They are freer to shake and twist to classify.

Nice gold...and nice job on the photography, you have some real skill there too!

It's kinda awesome to have you reply Kevin, it was you and Tweeta always talking about your BGTs that made me buy it and try it! Best miners investment to date with out question.

I agree... Every single time i shovel into it i get GOLD! Its my bestfriend!
